Some Facts About Divorce

What exactly is a divorce?  A divorce is nothing more than the disillusion or dissolving of a marriage.  Now there are many things that need to be considered when you file for a divorce if there are children involved there are issues such as child custody and child support.  There is also the question of how to divide the property both tangible and intangible property must be fairly and equitably divided.  There is the question of alimony, who gets it?  And how much?  There are still a large number of cultures in our society that do not believe in divorce.  Some of these are religious  based such as the catholic based religions for example do not believe in divorce as a matter of fact they will not even recognize your legal divorce as a real divorce.  In the eyes of God, you cannot be spiritually departed.  Now this would be very difficult for those who want to leave their spouse for some very good reasons.  In some cultures you may suffer some serious consequences because of getting a divorce even enough you feel there is a need to leave for the safety of yourself and or your children.  Some cultures do not allow any excuse, because quite simply to they're way of thinking there is no excuse for divorce.

Now let's assume that you want to be divorced and there is nothing culture wise stopping you.  You will need to fill out paperwork and file it with the court system and it will have to be approved by a judge after all as strange as it may seem you not only need permission to marry by the government but you also need permission to be legally separated or divorced.

Now there are people who enter into what is called a prenuptial agreement prior to a marriage this is designed to protect both parties in the event of a divorce and also to expedite the process.  One thing to consider here though  is simply this when two people enter into a prenuptial agreement are they simply setting the stage for divorce and making it more probable that they will get one? that has been a question on many people's minds since the prenuptial agreement was created.  A divorce does not happen overnight it does take time sometimes months or even possibly a year or more depending upon the complexity of the divorce.  Divorce just like marriage should never be taken lightly.  When you enter a marriage you enter a lifelong contract a divorce is simply a terminating of that contract.
